CNAME is a type of a DNS record. It stands for Canonical Name and can be used to redirect visitors from one domain to another. Redirecting via CNAME is called aliasing.

How to add a CNAME

  1. Go to the Unihost Client Area.
  2. Click Domains.DS_030717_ef1d77
  3. Click My Domains.
  4. Click Manage Domain.DS_030717_0aa220
  5. Click DNS management.DS_030717_c29bba
  6. Find the CNAME table.DS_030717_7054b8
  7. Click Add.
  8. Enter the domain you’d like to alias FROM in the field Name.DS_030717_0b316b
    1. If it is a subdomain to the current website, don’t put a fullstop at the end.
    2. If it is a separate domain, put a fullstop.
  9. Enter the domain you’d like to alias TO in the field Host. If you are aliasing to the current domain, you can simply enter @.
  10. Click Save at the bottom of the page.DS_030717_9fa8fa
