Update your Windows to the current version. Open Server Manager. Click on Manage – Add Roles and Features.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose role-based or Feature-based installation.\"Example<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Choose a server and continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose Remote Desktop Services in the Server Roles.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Example<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Choose Role Services:\u00a0Remote Desktop Licensing and Remote Desktop Session Host.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Example<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Press on next and wait for the installation to finish, reboot your server.<\/span><\/p>\n

License activation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Tools section appeared Remote Desktop Services, choose Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose your server, Right Mouse Button + Activate Server.<\/span><\/p>\n

Installation Wizard appears.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enter company information.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next section can be left blank.<\/span><\/p>\n

After activation, we can continue with license installation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose a License program, in our case – Enterprise Agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enter the Agreement number.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choose your Windows Server version, quantity, and type of RDS licenses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is an example of the correct installation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Checking for errors<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Server Manager, Open Remote Desktop Licensing Diagnoser.<\/span><\/p>\n

We notice a couple of errors typical for Windows Server 2019\/2022. In our case, the cause of the problem is the server does not belong to the domain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in the Server Manager choose the Local Server tab. Here we are copying the Name in the Computer Name cell.<\/span><\/p>\n

Executing Run –\u00a0gpedit.msc <\/strong>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Example<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Local Group Policy Editor starts, in it follows this path: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Licensing<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Example<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

We need to edit two policies:<\/span><\/p>\n

1 – Use the specified Remote Desktop license servers. <\/strong>Choose Enable. Enter the computer’s name.<\/span><\/p>\n

2 – Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode. <\/strong>Choose Enable. Choose the type of licensing, in our case, it is Per User.<\/span><\/p>\n

After these changes, we need to reboot the Remote Desktop Licensing Service using gpupdate \/force in PowerShell as the administrator<\/span><\/p>\n
