CSR<\/b> (Certificate Signing Request) is a request which is necessary to receive a certificate. This is a file which consists encoding data about your domain and company (for which you create a certificate) and your open key.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

First of all you have to generate the key.<\/span><\/p>\n

Generating a private key<\/span><\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Log into\u00a0cPanel. <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Press SSL\/TLS<\/em> button in “Security” section.\"security_tab\"<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Click Generate, view, upload or delete your private keys<\/em>.\"private_key\"<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Click Generate<\/em>\u00a0(you may leave a Description<\/strong> field empty or fill it with a description for your key).\"generate_key\"<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. You will receive a notification that the private\u00a0key has been generated. Scroll down and click\u00a0Return to SSL Manager<\/em>.<\/span>\"return\"<\/li>\n
  6. Now you can\u00a0generate a\u00a0CSR request. Click\u00a0Generate, view or delete request SSL certificate signing request<\/em>.<\/span>\"generate\"<\/li>\n
  7. Fill in the fields:\n
      \n
    1. Key.<\/strong>\u00a0Select your key in the drop-down list.\"key\"<\/li>\n
    2. Domains.<\/strong> Provide the FQDN<\/abbr>s that you are trying to secure, one per line. You may use a wildcard domain by adding an asterisk in a domain name in the form: *.sample.com<\/em>.\"domain\"<\/li>\n
    3. City. <\/strong>Provide the complete name for the city or locality. Do not use abbreviations.\"city\"<\/li>\n
    4. State.<\/strong>\u00a0Provide the name of your state or province. Do not use abbreviations.\"state\"<\/li>\n
    5. Country.<\/strong>\u00a0Select your country from the drop-down list.\"country\"<\/li>\n
    6. Company. <\/strong>Provide the legally-registered name for your business. If your company name includes symbols other than a period or comma, check with your certificate authority to confirm that they are acceptable.\"company\"<\/li>\n
    7. Company Division. <\/b>Provide the name of the division or group within the above company. If the division includes symbols other than a period or comma, check with your certificate authority to confirm that they are acceptable.\"division\"<\/li>\n
    8. Email<\/strong>. Provide a valid email address where you can be contacted for verification of domain ownership.\"email\"<\/span><\/li>\n
    9. Password phrase.<\/strong> Some certificate authorities may require CSRs to have a passphrase. The certificate authority can use a CSR passphrase to confirm the identity of the person or organization with whom you wish to communicate. CSR passphrases are stored unencrypted<\/strong> in the CSR. Because of this, and also because you will share this passphrase with a third party, do not use an important password here.\"password\"<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    10. Click\u00a0Generate<\/em>. You will see the notification:<\/span>
      \n The certificate signing request for “Your.Domain” has been generated and saved in your user directory. To purchase a trusted certificate copy the following encrypted request to sign your certificate and send it to the CA. Then follow the instructions of the CA.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
