The hosting control panel cPanel has an in-built File Manager. It can create and delete files and folders on a server, edit their contents and manage permissions on them. File manager supports archives, but only open-source formats (.zip, .7z etc.). RAR and its variations are not supported.

File manager can be accessed through cPanel’s dashboard:

Click on it to see the contents of your hosting account:

The top panel contains commands:

File. Creates a new file.

Click the button. You will be prompted with a window asking where to save your new file. By default, the current open folder is selected.

Folder. Creates new folders.

Click the button. You will be prompted with a window asking where to save your new folder. By default, the current open folder is selected.

Copy. Creates duplicates of files and folders.

Click a file or a folder, then click Copy. You will be prompted with a window asking where to save a copy. By default, the current open folder is selected.

Move. Moves files or folders to a different location.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Move. You will be prompted with a window, asking the destination.

Upload. Uploads files from your PC to the server.

Click Send. In the new window click Choose file and double click the file you want to upload.

Download. Downloads files from the server to your PC.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Download.

Delete. Deletes files and folders.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Delete.

Restore. Restores deleted files and folders. Function is available only in Trash.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Restore. The file will be restored in its original location.

Rename. Changes the name of a file or a folder.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Rename. Enter the new name and then press Enter.

Edit. Opens up a file editor.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Edit. In the new window choose the encoding system and click Edit again to open the editor.

Code editor. Open a file editor with code highlight feature.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Code Editor.

HTML Editor. Opens the HTML page editor

Click on a file or a folder, then click HTML Editor.

Permissions. Opens the access permissions editor for files and folders.

Click on a file or a folder, then click Permissions.

View. Shows the changes done to the files and folders recently.

Compress. Compresses files into an archive.

Click on the files or folders, then click Compress. Choose the type and the name of the archive, then click Compress File(s).

Extract. Extracts files out of the archive.

Click on a folder or a file, then click Extract. You will be prompted with a windows, asking to choose the destination. By default, the current open folder is selected.
